4/19/03  Do not CALL !

I'm packing (to leave NYC) and I found this brochure which I have activated since 2 year ago. The tip that I got from one of medical student who rotated to our service. It's DO NOT CALL - Telemarketing Registry. This service is for free (now) and require 2-3 months to become effective. Once it is, you will no longer worry about the unwanted phone calls, period. Works like a charm. Click here to register. I wish Maryland state has this feature, too.

3/31/03  Graduation Party

I feel like it's just yesterday when I was at the graduation party for the class of 1999-2000. 3 years has passed by so quick and now it's my turn to be the graduated one. 3/25/03  Eclipsys from Home

Nothing feels good like the ability to follow up your patient from home. Yes, this feature was available prior to 9/11 and then was withdrawn and now is back again (hope stay thru the Iraq's event). The process takes very little time in which you'll need to install the software - Chart Review into your computer. Then you can use the same username/password to log in and see your patient's chart. Click on the icon to the instruction page to download the software. I wish the Imnet and Cisyphus can be access from home too.

Oh some news about the IMNET. Please be noted that the old IMNET is no longer available. The new IMNET now (IMNET405) is now effective. The icon can be found under the folder - Clinical Applications. The same password/username used to log in. The slower begining but faster documents access and many more features.

9/30/02   Finally, there is something for relieve system !

How does it feel to find out that you stuck in the OR again after a late last night -not oncall (same old -same old, can't complain !) and may be you'll be S2 tomorrow !!!. Kudos to Stavros who finally made it happened. I actually was wishing that they are making S6-10 (about the number of rooms that normally still running after 5 pm) because I'm (or we're or some of us) doing it right now, just unevenly occurred to all 50 (or more ) residents. Now there will be a new system which will work or not - depends on our cooperation ! (better than just praying/whining anyway. Read the details by clicking the icon. Effective as right now on (start 9/30). And I'm happy to report that I'm the 2nd customer using it on the first effective day, will see how it works out tomorrow !

8/31/02   The books and the lectures

Hope you guys haven't forgottent that we still have lecture series. For this year, the lecture strategy has been redesigned like you've seen in the letter in your mailbox. The best part of it and I think it's one of the best gifts from the department is the book. We are getting the books !. For CA-3 class, we're gonna get my dream book (and must have- eventhough, you don't want to read it now, but believe me, some day, you will) -Stoelting -Anesthesia and Coexisting Disease. Another book for CA-3 is Benumof-Anesthesia and Perioperative Complications. The CA-1 will get Stoelting-Pharmacology and physiology in Anesthetic Practice and also Dr. Hemming's book (the most beautiful color book). For the CA-2, I have no idea, find it out !.

And don't forget, the new lecture series are started on this coming Monday - Sept 3, 2002. Click the lecture icon on your left to see the schedule. To get the books, find them in your mailbox, if you don't see - ask Shonda.

Just a general annoucement that the grand round session of Monday's AM now will be held in the new room which is supposed to be at the same spot but different floor. The new place is A-950. The old room will be reinnovated.

8/22/02   Phone cards is available

Most of you have already got the 2002 phone card, congratulation. I am still in the process of making more (very slow), you can request one (only, at this time) when you caught me anywhere. Soon (hope before I graduated), I should accomplish the 200-copies task. The ongoing correction is also active. There will be version 2 and 3 - pretty much like Microsoft and service pack for Win XP. Enjoy your (and my) vay-kay !!!! hoo-ray.

7/31/02   Greeting the new Attending

Don't be surprised to see the new attending on this coming Monday- Dr.Randazzo. And don't ask me who he is (because I don't know anything else). The reason that I know because his name show up when I was collecting the data for the new phonecard and a...hem, the new phone card file is 99.99% done. We only wait for his beeper and office number to complete this card and hopefully, you can see it in the mailbox with in the next week.

7/31/02   I made it , last day of July. - Read new article about Fenoldopam

This review article has been published since November of 2001. Many of us have heard about this drug and barely use it. It's getting very popular, especially in the ICU (well.... 4W - to be more specific). It costs only $100 per 1 ml vial ! and the main use is for promoting diuresis eventhough the FDA approves it for the antihypertensive treatment (up to 48 hr) in the hospital. I wonderd is there anyone who is really using it for that purpose anyway !

7/30/02   It's available... yeah !

For those who never used Dexmedetomidine or (Pracedex®) and want to learn/see how wonderful this drug is. Just to let you know that the OR pharmacy has it available on request now. The 2 ml vial costs ONLY $50-60 and if you don't remember how to dose it, please consult this page (the slip recommends to put 2 ml in NSS 48 ml) which was post since August, last year. For more details info, please consult this page. You do not have to sign any control substance sheet for this (so far). Oh BTW, the remifentanil also back now (after been out of stock for years). Have fun !.

7/30/02   Phone cards on demand

I'm sorry to announce this (but yet feel very relieved), I just realized that I can not make 200 copies of phone card this year due to many reasons (we can talk about that in the chat forum). And I also do not think that everybody actually needs it. Two years ago, I made it only 16-20 copies distributed to my class and that was very good, it was like a hobby. For this year, according to the current situation, I will make it for everyone of us (residents- hey if you don't want one - please e-mail me, I'll be more than happy). For the others, please make a request by e-mail me. It's absolutely free of charge and if you don't hear from me for a while, you can download the pdf file and print (+ laminate + cut + fold) by yourself. Please try your best not to lose it (you may not get the 2nd one), because every copy of it worth minutes of my precious free time at home !. Peace.....

7/22/02   Maternity

Congratulation to Saira! who soon will be experiencing epidural labor analgesia as a patient in this coming January. Now Saira's baby is beyond the organogenesis period. Well, after this point, we'll make every effort not to make her stress, run, work too hard or even give her a post-lunch nap everyday. It's good for the baby.

7/18/02   Gimme a break !

Yey !!!. Finally I have fixed/managed to get the chatting part working again. Now the cafe is working and hopefully it will be working more reliably. Sorry for your convenience. Old users can enjoy the chat now and the new users can register and chat too. For the new coming residents, ah.. hem, I just add your info in the database and it's ready for registration. For the graduated residents, ah..hem, you're deleted !!!!, individual request to remain a member may be considered by e-mail me . Enjoy chit chat !

7/16/02   We're back

Oh lord, the exam passed by. Hope everyone is getting better (I doubted myself). Anyway, we're back in business again, will try to update the site as much as I could. Welcome the new coming residents. Soon, I'll update the database so you guys can log in and enjoy the feature. Right now, let me finish that phone card mission. Help me make the perfect one (it will be the last one that I make for Cornell), by letting me know any updated info of yours !. Thanks

7/10/02   Low activity alert

Experts told me do not host your web with the montly pay of < $10. Now I'm more than appreciative of that, over a month that I've been wrestling with the new web hosting service, the old one was $2.49 a month, dirt cheap including the quality and reliabilitiy we've got. Now.. ah hem, I have moved again (moving season), I got this web server who is in the business since 1997 and everything looks good (except for monthly service - $4.95 -which is actually - not too bad).

Anyway, just to annouce that there will be (it's actually already started) an inactivity of this website until after this 7/13 and everyone knows why !, see you again after this Saturday.
