This year, the logo, the environment
is very patriotic. But still, I can feel that much less people
come this year. Probably the people from outside. For us, as
a newyorker, we're there. I went on Sunday 12/9, I can not go
on Saturday because some poeple tried and finally did make me
take cardiac call. So I did not show at the department's evening,
realized that I can't run from 53th-6th to 70th-York fast enough.
Anyway, I went there Sunday, that's it, end of story.

Here's the start. Hilton.
They did it here, too for the last year (and may have been).
I like this spot, easy to get to, close to many places especially
the famous 5th avenue and the Rockefeller buidling. |
 |
This is the registration
booth, the first stop to get a free bag, the badge and the book.
Because we're already the (resident) members of NYSSA, so I
just showed my ID card (the member card) and I got everything
in .... ummh 5 seconds. You can see that less people (much less)
this year. |
 |
Here's another one
to show how less people this year, or may be it's just a Sunday
and people have to go to church ??? anyway.. let's go... |
 |
Here's the famous exhibit,
there are 2 of them on the same floor and the floor above. I
didn't go to the upper floor because of a limited time. And
I don't have a picture of seminar/workshop session. It gonna
make me a jerk if I just stand up and take a picture. You can
see the security at the gate, she just simply check that everyone
has the badge and carry no explosives and screen the terrorists. |
 |
I like this machine
and I like the booth (from Datex + Ohmeda) but I don't like
the reps who yelled at me "you're not allowed to take picture",
I just simply said "it's fine madam, I didn't take YOUR
picture". The BIS monitor has found the way to be included
in these future (and must be expensive) machine. It's getting
smaller and more sophisticated. Couldn't believe it make our
Aestiva and ModulusII old already. Do you see the vaporizers
???? |
 |
Look, who's here. I
actually met many (well... 5 may be) from our department. But
they're all lucky, didn't get caught by my camera. Only Dr.
Sharma.. Hi.. Dr. Sharma.. cheese.... |
 |
Another booth that
demonstrate the new advanced anesthesia machine. Well, again,
look very pricey and very sophisticated. The rep of this booth
is very polite and much nicer than the other (sorry.. it's true).
We haven't seen much of this brand (actually I've never seen
it anywhere in this country - and in mine) but I hope they will
make their way in the market and which them luck. The machince
called "KION" if you wanna know more, click this. |
 |
So many varieties of
booth, even with the IV caths , any kind of devices related
to anesthesia care, even the OR clogs... This is Braun and this
picture just to show you how wide that the lenses of my camera
can take and how small of people in the booth. |
 |
Laerdal is the company
that is closely related to the ACLS and BLS as you may remember
their logo on the ACLS/BLS guidelines. They make the famous
"ANNE" manikin and now it's more real like a Sony
toy and actually make me feel scary. Anyway, their simulator
is wonderful and again if you want to know them more, click
here.

 |
Yes, it's a famous
LMA booth. Here you can see every kinds of LMA in this small
world that you may never seen them at our hospital. And if you
never have a chance to use the LMA ( because they're all locked
up and still getting lost), you can see it yourself and practice
there too. The web site of this company (LMA of North American)
is here. |
 |
I don't remember whose
this is. But there are many of these kind of booth and for yourself
to play with the FOB. Same like the setting that Dr. Slepian
use to teach us, only their scope is much better, brighter.
Just for fun, come on... |
 |
I have seen the Thromboelastography
machine before but never been this small. This is the new machine
and probably cost a lot and I may never seen it again in my
life. As you may've known it can help us diagnose and reduce
the blood and blood components usuage. The cartridges is very
small, the right chamber is for use in heparinized patient setting
and the left chamber is for non-heparined patient. Wanna know
them better ... ? click here. |
 |
I got 2 new books from
here Lippincort Williams & Wilkins,
they have $25 discount on each book plus another 10% discount
when you buy 3 or more. Very nice deal and.... no tax ! There
is another book booth Hartcort Health
Sciences next to this selling a new FAUST book good like
a free giving. Oh, they're also taking a preorder $115 for a
new ed of Anesthesia and Coexisting Disease that is written
by Dr. Dierdorf who just came to
our department this week. |
 |
This is BAXTOR's
product. You may have seen it before, we used to have one (probably
on loan) in room 17. I got my hands on this last year at MSKCC
(thanks Dr. Fischer, that let me play with it for a while).
I like that it's color, 4 channel EEG display. I don't feel
it's much any differences from the BIS and the probe is a tad
more difficult to place. Anyway, try it yourself, read it yourself...
PSA
4000 (Patient State Analyser 4000. |
 |
This is on my way out,
I didn't even stop, I spent too much time in this exhibit and
so tired. I wanna go home. See you again next year at the same
sweet spot. Good day. |
